Buckle Up Road Signs
The Buckle Up signs are another way to remind motorists to Buckle Up as they begin their journey on the road. The signs can be ordered for FREE through Highway Safety. To order yours, click here for Order form Materials. Or contact Belinda McMurry for more information.

Buckle Up Stencil
This new Buckle Up stencil kit is a large stencil of two hands clicking a safety belt with the message, “Buckle Up!” as shown below. Not only can this stencil be painted on high school parking lots, but this stencil can also be painted on the parking lots of other schools, churches and businesses throughout the community.
The stencil is free to use and available at various locations throughout Southeast Missouri. Contact Belinda McMurry or Jay Lancaster for more information.

Rollover Simulator
The Rollover Simulator demonstrates a vehicle involved in a rollover accident. The simulator uses dummies to prove why safety belts are important in rollover crashes. This demonstration is great for schools and any community organization! For more information on using the Rollover Simulator, contact Sgt. Dale Moreland.
Seat Belt Convincer
The Seat Belt Convincer is one of Missouri’s newest tools for safety belt awareness. The convincer effectively demonstrates the importance of a safety belt when a person is involved in a crash as shown below. The Convincer is great for students and adults! Fatal Vision Goggles
See what it feels like to drink and drive or walk a straight line under the influence of alcohol. Fatal vision goggles create the experience of having blurred vision to different levels of intoxication. To use fatal vision goggles or for more information contact Sgt. Team Spirit
Team Spirit gives educational resources and goals to high school students who are interested in promoting responsible driving. Team Spirit holds a 3-day conference in the summer where students build action plans, learn about drinking and driving, roadway safety and team building skills. The action plans and values learned will be implemented throughout the school year at their respective schools. For more information, contact Sharee Galnore. In the picture below, students at a Team Spirit Conference watch a docudrama being performed. A docudrama simulates a drunk driving car crash and the immediate effects of it.
Child Passenger Safety
The Southeast Coalition for Roadway Safety has child safety seat certified technicians and training for those for are interested in becoming technicians. Child safety seats are available to the public. A technician will secure the child safety seat. For more information contact Lynn Ware or Jay Lancaster.

EN CARE - Choices for Living Program
With more than 34,000 members worldwide, ENA is the foremost Emergency Nurses Association in the world. ENA and the Injury Prevention Institute/EN CARE are committed to reducing the number of preventable injuries through public education, professional training courses and legislative advocacy. The Southeast Missouri Chapter of the ENA is proud to offer our communities various injury prevention programs.
"Choices for Living" is an interactive educational program designed to promote safe decision-making among teenage drivers. This dynamic program uses the power of personal stories, dialogue and group activities to help teenagers make the healthier choice to avoid underage drinking, binge drinking, and drinking and driving.

THINK FIRST Missouri
THINK FIRST Missouri is an educational and health program that was established by the University of Missouri School of Medicine. The program focuses on educating youth of traffic crashes and substance abuse related accidents that cause brain and spinal cord injuries. Speakers visit schools and talk about their personal experiences as well as reinforcement, prevention and available programs. Promotional Items
Promotional items are great reminders to Buckle Up and Arrive Alive! The Arrive Alive t-shirts and the Click It key chains are used to remind drivers and passengers to buckle up. These items can be passed out at any occasion and are great for students and adults. Additional promotional items have also been added this year as well. Battle of the Belt 2009
Battle of the Belt was developed to reduce the number of motor-vehicle-related injuries and fatalities among Missouri high school students by increasing seat belt usage. The program was created for students that want to make a difference in the lives of of those they care about. It's also a great way for teens to have friendly rivalries with neighboring high schools while increasing seat belt usage. Not only does the competition increase safety belt awareness, but students also have the opportunity to win cash and prizes in the process.
For the 2009 Battle of the Belt competition, your school needs to pick a six week time frame between Sept. 14 and Nov. 20 that works best for you. And to make it even more convenient, there are many free resources available to schools that participate in the Battle of the Belt competition. Deadline to sign up for the 2008 Battle of the Belt is Oct. 9, 2009. For more information regarding this year's 2008 Battle of the Belt, contact Belinda McMurry.
